Adtran
Prepare Adtran devices for QUARK Config Backup.
This guide covers Adtran Total Access devices running the Adtran Operating System (AOS).
Create a backup account
AOS uses an industry-standard CLI. Create a dedicated local user for QUARK:
Displaying the running configuration on AOS requires privileged (enable) mode, so also set an enable password and provide it to QUARK along with the account credentials. There is no read-only role that can display the full configuration; the netwatch-backup account is still recommended so backup activity is clearly identifiable in logs.
Enable SSH access
Enable the SSH server in the device's IP services configuration and confirm local login is applied to the SSH/Telnet lines. If your AOS release supports an access class or ACL on management sessions, restrict SSH to the collector's IP address. Use Telnet only on older Total Access units whose firmware lacks SSH.
Platform notes
- QUARK logs in, enters enable mode with the enable password you supply, and reads the running configuration; it never enters configuration mode.
- Verify from a manual SSH session that the account can reach enable mode and display the configuration before adding the device.
Enable backup in Netwatch
Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
