EdgeCore
Prepare EdgeCore devices for QUARK Config Backup.
This guide covers EdgeCore managed switches running the ECS3510, ES3526XA-V2 and ES3528M firmware families. All three use a similar IOS-like CLI, so the preparation steps are largely the same.
ECS3510
Create a backup account. Create a dedicated netwatch-backup account at the highest privilege level (15) — displaying the running configuration requires privileged EXEC access. Alternatively, create a normal-level account and supply the enable password to QUARK.
Enable SSH access. Generate the switch's host key and enable the SSH server in the management settings, then verify the collector can reach the switch on TCP port 22. If you configure a management IP filter, permit the collector's IP address.
Notes. QUARK issues show commands only and never enters configuration mode.
ES3526XA-V2
Create a backup account. Create a dedicated netwatch-backup account with privilege level 15, or a lower-level account plus the enable password — privileged mode is required to display the running configuration.
Enable SSH access. Enable the SSH server after generating the host key, and confirm reachability from the collector on TCP port 22. Use the switch's management IP filter to restrict access to the collector's address if desired. On firmware without SSH support, fall back to Telnet on a protected management VLAN.
Notes. QUARK is read-only on this platform.
ES3528M
Create a backup account. Create a dedicated netwatch-backup account at privilege level 15, or supply the enable password with a lower-level login; the full running configuration is only visible in privileged mode.
Enable SSH access. Generate the host key and enable the SSH server in the management settings, verify TCP port 22 reachability from the collector, and permit the collector's IP in the management IP filter if one is configured.
Notes. QUARK never writes to or saves the switch configuration.
Enable backup in Netwatch
Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
