Motorola
Prepare Motorola devices for QUARK Config Backup.
This guide covers Motorola (Symbol / Zebra) RFS-series wireless LAN controllers, such as the RFS4000, RFS6000, and RFS7000.
RFS
Create a backup account. Create a dedicated local user — for example netwatch-backup — in the controller's CLI or web management interface. RFS controllers support role-based management users; a monitor or read-only role can run show commands, but displaying the complete running configuration requires privileged access on these platforms, so assign the account superuser rights or supply the enable credentials with the account.
Enable SSH. Enable the SSH management service in the controller's management-access settings and verify the controller is reachable from the Netwatch collector. Where the firmware supports management-access restrictions, permit SSH only from the collector's IP address; otherwise restrict access with an upstream firewall.
Platform notes.
- The retrieved configuration includes adopted access-point configuration held by the controller, so backing up the controller covers the managed APs.
- These controllers are end of life; older firmware may only offer legacy SSH algorithms, which the Netwatch collector accepts for such devices.
Enable backup in Netwatch
Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
