Trango Systems
Prepare Trango Systems devices for QUARK Config Backup.
This guide covers Trango Systems point-to-point and point-to-multipoint microwave radios.
Prepare the account
Most Trango radios use fixed login roles with per-role passwords rather than named user accounts. If your firmware provides a view or read-only role that can display the full configuration, set a dedicated password for it and use that in QUARK; otherwise use the administrative credentials. QUARK only reads the configuration — it never changes the radio.
Enable management access
Telnet is the traditional CLI transport on Trango radios; newer firmware releases add SSH. Enable the SSH server in the radio's management settings where it is available, and use Telnet only on radios whose firmware lacks SSH.
Trango radios offer little built-in source-address filtering, so restrict management access (TCP 22 or 23) to the Netwatch collector's IP with an ACL on the upstream switch or router.
Platform notes
- Keep radios on current firmware where possible — it improves both SSH availability and the completeness of the configuration output.
- Back up both ends of a link; each radio holds its own configuration.
Enable backup in Netwatch
Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
