Netonix

Prepare Netonix devices for QUARK Config Backup.

This guide covers Netonix WISP Switch models.

WISP Switch

Create a backup account. Create a dedicated user — for example netwatch-backup — in the switch's web interface user settings. The WISP Switch does not provide a granular read-only role suited to full configuration retrieval, so the account generally needs admin rights; QUARK only reads the configuration and never applies changes.

Enable SSH. Enable the SSH service in the switch's device or services settings and verify the switch accepts SSH logins from the Netwatch collector. The platform has limited built-in ACL support for management services, so restrict access to the collector's IP address with an upstream firewall or a dedicated management VLAN.

Platform notes.

  • QUARK retrieves the switch's configuration file over SSH; the backup is the same configuration you would download from the web UI, so it can be restored through the standard restore function if needed.
  • Keep firmware reasonably current; very old WISP Switch firmware has known SSH stability issues that can interrupt scheduled retrieval.

Enable backup in Netwatch

Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
