Calix
Prepare Calix devices for QUARK Config Backup.
This guide covers Calix access platforms running AXOS, including the E7-2 and E9-2 series.
Create a backup account
Create a dedicated account for QUARK, for example netwatch-backup. AXOS supports role-based user accounts; assign a read-only role that is permitted to display the full running configuration. Create the account from the AXOS CLI in configuration mode, or through Calix Management Cloud if you manage the device centrally.
Enable SSH access
AXOS is managed over SSH, which is enabled by default on the management interface. Verify that the collector can reach the device's management IP on TCP port 22. If you use management access lists or a dedicated management VRF, permit the collector's IP address.
Platform notes
- QUARK retrieves the configuration with standard AXOS show commands over SSH; no configuration-mode access is required.
- A read-only role is sufficient — do not grant the backup account provisioning rights.
Enable backup in Netwatch
Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
