QTECH

Prepare QTECH devices for QUARK Config Backup.

This guide covers QTECH managed switches in the QSW-2800, QSW-3400, QSW-3450, and QSW-3500 series.

QSW-2800

Backup account. Create a local user named netwatch-backup from the CLI or web UI and give it the administrator privilege level. The full running configuration can only be displayed from privileged mode, so a limited account is not sufficient.

SSH access. Enable the SSH server in the switch's management settings; Telnet is typically enabled by default and should be disabled once SSH is verified. If the firmware supports a management ACL for virtual terminal access, restrict it to the QUARK collector's IP address.

Notes. If privileged mode is protected by a separate enable password, record it in QUARK with the login credentials.

QSW-3400

Backup account. Create netwatch-backup with the highest privilege level via the CLI or web UI; displaying the complete running configuration requires privileged mode on this platform.

SSH access. Turn on the SSH server in the management configuration and prefer it over Telnet. Where supported, apply a management access list permitting only the QUARK collector's IP.

Notes. Configure the enable password in QUARK if one is set on the switch.

QSW-3450

Backup account. Create netwatch-backup as an administrator-level local user; lower privilege levels cannot show the full configuration.

SSH access. Enable SSH in the management settings and disable Telnet once SSH access works. Restrict management sessions to the collector's IP with a management ACL if the firmware provides one.

Notes. Record the enable password in QUARK if privileged mode is separately protected.

QSW-3500

Backup account. Create netwatch-backup with administrator privilege from the CLI or web UI; privileged mode is required to display the running configuration.

SSH access. Enable the SSH server, verify the collector can connect on TCP port 22, and disable Telnet. Use a management ACL to limit access to the collector's IP where the firmware supports it.

Notes. As with the other QSW families, add the enable password to the device entry in QUARK if one is configured.

Enable backup in Netwatch

Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
