GCOM Technologies
Prepare GCOM Technologies devices for QUARK Config Backup.
This guide covers GCOM Technologies devices running the Broadband Network Platform Software.
Create a backup account
Create a dedicated account named netwatch-backup in the device's user management. The platform requires privileged access to display the complete running configuration, so assign administrator-level rights; use a read-only level only if your software release can show the full configuration with it.
Enable SSH
Enable the SSH server in the device's management settings and confirm the device is reachable from the Netwatch collector on TCP port 22. If only Telnet is available on your software release, use Telnet on a trusted management network. Where the platform supports management ACLs or trusted-host lists, restrict access to the collector's IP address.
Platform notes
- QUARK logs in, displays the running configuration, and logs out; it never enters configuration mode or modifies the device.
- If login on your device lands in an unprivileged mode that requires a separate enable password to display the configuration, record that password in QUARK together with the account credentials.
Enable backup in Netwatch
Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
