Lenovo
Prepare Lenovo devices for QUARK Config Backup.
This guide covers Lenovo data-center switches running Lenovo Network OS (RackSwitch and Flex System embedded switches).
Lenovo Network OS
Create a backup account. Create a dedicated local user — for example netwatch-backup — in the switch CLI or web management interface. Lenovo Network OS uses an industry-standard CLI in which the full running configuration is displayed from privileged (enable) mode, so give the account either administrator rights or operator rights plus the enable password. Prefer the lowest privilege level that can still display the complete running configuration on your model and firmware.
Enable SSH. Enable the SSH server in the switch's access or management settings and confirm you can log in from the Netwatch collector. Where your firmware supports management ACLs or management-network restrictions, limit SSH access to the collector's IP address.
Platform notes.
- If the backup account is not an administrator, record the enable password in QUARK along with the login credentials so the collector can enter privileged mode.
- Flex System embedded switches are often reached through the chassis management module's network; make sure the switch's own management IP is directly reachable from the collector.
Enable backup in Netwatch
Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
