Uplink

Prepare Uplink devices for QUARK Config Backup.

This guide covers the Uplink EP4440-DP.

Create a backup account

In the device's management interface, create a dedicated account — for example netwatch-backup — with enough privilege to display the complete configuration. If the firmware only supports a single administrative login, set a strong password on it and store those credentials in QUARK. QUARK only reads the configuration; it never modifies the device.

Enable management access

Enable the SSH server in the device's management settings if your firmware provides it; use Telnet only where SSH is not available. Confirm the Netwatch collector can reach the management address on the relevant port.

The platform offers limited built-in source filtering, so restrict management access to the collector's IP with an ACL on the upstream switch or router.

Platform notes

  • Management menus vary between firmware revisions; after preparing the account, log in manually once and confirm the full configuration can be displayed before adding the device.
  • Disable Telnet if SSH is available and working.

Enable backup in Netwatch

Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
