Grandstream Networks
Prepare Grandstream Networks devices for QUARK Config Backup.
This guide covers Grandstream GSX devices and HT8xx (HandyTone) analog telephone adapters.
GSX
Create a backup account. Create a dedicated netwatch-backup administrator in the device's web management interface. Grandstream devices do not offer a read-only role capable of displaying the full configuration, so use an administrator-level account.
Enable management access. Confirm the device's management interface is enabled and reachable from the Netwatch collector. If the firmware provides an access white list or allows you to limit management to specific source addresses, add the collector's IP.
Notes. QUARK retrieves the device configuration read-only through the management interface; it never pushes settings to the device.
HT8xx
The HT8xx family are the HandyTone analog telephone adapters (for example HT801, HT802, HT812, HT814, HT818).
Create a backup account. The HT8xx units use a fixed admin login rather than named accounts. Set a strong, dedicated administrator password for backup use in the web UI and store it in QUARK; keep it distinct from passwords shared with other tooling where possible.
Enable management access. Ensure the web management interface is enabled on the network the Netwatch collector reaches (on multi-port models, check that remote/WAN-side management is set appropriately for your topology). Use the device's access restrictions, or upstream firewalling, to limit management access to the collector's IP.
Notes.
- These adapters are frequently mass-provisioned; QUARK's read-only retrieval does not interfere with provisioning, and the versioned history is useful for spotting unexpected re-provisioning.
- After firmware upgrades, verify the management password and access settings survived the upgrade before the next scheduled backup.
Enable backup in Netwatch
Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
