Pure Storage
Prepare Pure Storage devices for QUARK Config Backup.
This guide covers Pure Storage arrays running Purity OS.
Create a dedicated backup account
Create a local user named netwatch-backup in the Purity web UI under Settings > Access and assign it the Read Only role. The read-only role is sufficient to display the array's configuration from the CLI, so no administrator rights are needed. If your arrays authenticate against a directory service instead of local users, map the account to the group associated with the read-only role.
Enable SSH access
SSH is available by default on the array's management interfaces, so no service needs to be turned on. Make sure the QUARK collector can reach the management VIP (or a controller management address) on TCP port 22, and restrict that reachability to the collector's IP address in your network firewalls, since Purity does not filter management sources itself.
Platform notes
- QUARK logs in over SSH and reads the array configuration with show-style CLI commands; it never issues commands that change array state.
- Use the virtual management address rather than a single controller's address so backups continue to work through controller failovers and upgrades.
Enable backup in Netwatch
Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
