This guide covers ComNet industrial Ethernet switches built on the Microsemi switch platform.

Create a backup account

Create a dedicated account named netwatch-backup in the switch's user management, in the web UI or CLI. Assign the highest privilege level — on this platform displaying the full configuration requires administrative privilege; the lowest read-only levels cannot dump the configuration.

Enable SSH access

Enable the SSH server in the switch's security/management settings (in the web UI, look under the system security section) and verify the collector can reach the switch on TCP port 22. If the switch supports an access management list for management services, add an entry permitting the collector's IP address.

Platform notes

• QUARK reads the configuration with show commands only; it never saves or modifies the configuration.
• If your model exposes both HTTP and SSH management, prefer SSH and consider disabling unencrypted management protocols.

Enable backup in Netwatch

Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
