Quanta

Prepare Quanta devices for QUARK Config Backup.

This guide covers Quanta switches running the VxWorks 6.6 based firmware (release 1.1.0.8).

Create a dedicated backup account

Create a local user named netwatch-backup through the switch's web UI or CLI user management. Give the account the highest available access level: the platform requires privileged mode to display the complete running configuration, and read-only levels only expose status information.

Enable management access

Check whether your firmware build includes an SSH server; on this legacy platform some images ship with Telnet only. Enable SSH if it is available, otherwise enable Telnet and treat the management network accordingly — restrict reachability of the management port to the QUARK collector's IP address at your network edge, since credentials cross the wire unencrypted over Telnet. If the firmware offers a management access list, add the collector's IP to it.

Platform notes

  • If privileged mode is protected by a separate enable password, record it in QUARK along with the login credentials.
  • This firmware generation only supports legacy SSH algorithms; QUARK negotiates them automatically, but keep the device on a management network you trust.

Enable backup in Netwatch

Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
