Arbor Networks

Prepare Arbor Networks devices for QUARK Config Backup.

This guide covers Arbor Networks (now NETSCOUT Arbor) appliances running ArbOS, including Peakflow SP / Sightline and TMS deployments.

Create a backup account

Create a dedicated netwatch-backup account for CLI access on the appliance. ArbOS CLI accounts are administrative by nature; if your release supports capability groups or restricted account classes, assign the most limited set that can still display the system's running configuration. Manage the account through the appliance CLI's services/AAA configuration or through your central authentication (TACACS+/RADIUS) if the appliances use it.

Enable SSH access

ArbOS appliances are managed over SSH, which is normally enabled by default on the management interface. Confirm the management IP is reachable from the collector on TCP port 22. Use the appliance's access control settings (or your DCN firewalling) to restrict SSH to the collector's IP address.

Platform notes

  • QUARK reads the configuration with the ArbOS show/config display facilities; it never enters configuration editing or commits changes.
  • Back up each appliance (leader and TMS units) individually; the leader's configuration does not include the per-appliance ArbOS settings of other units.

Enable backup in Netwatch

Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
