Telco Systems
Prepare Telco Systems devices for QUARK Config Backup.
This guide covers Telco Systems T-Marc 3306 carrier Ethernet demarcation devices.
Create a backup account
Using the device CLI's user management, create a dedicated account — for example netwatch-backup — with enough privilege to display the complete running configuration. If your software release offers a read-only privilege level that can still show the full configuration, prefer it; otherwise assign the administrative level. QUARK only reads the configuration and never modifies the device.
Note that on this platform displaying the running configuration generally requires the privileged command level, so if your account starts in a lower level, also record the enable/privileged password so QUARK can elevate after login.
Enable SSH access
Enable the SSH server in the device's management settings and confirm the collector can reach TCP port 22 on the management address. Fall back to Telnet only if your firmware release does not provide SSH.
If the release supports a management access list, restrict SSH (and Telnet, if you must keep it) to the Netwatch collector's IP address; otherwise restrict management access with an upstream ACL.
Platform notes
- Firmware releases vary in which privilege levels can display the full configuration; verify by logging in as
netwatch-backupand displaying the running configuration manually before adding the device. - Disable Telnet once SSH access is confirmed.
Enable backup in Netwatch
Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
