Arris
Prepare Arris devices for QUARK Config Backup.
This guide covers the Arris C4 CMTS.
Create a backup account
Create a dedicated netwatch-backup operator account in the CMTS's local user settings (or via your TACACS+/RADIUS deployment if the chassis authenticates centrally). Displaying the full running configuration on the C4 requires privileged/enable-level access, so assign the account a privilege level that can enter enable mode, or provide the enable password to QUARK together with the login credentials.
Enable SSH access
Enable the SSH server on the CMTS management interface and verify the management IP is reachable from the collector on TCP port 22. Where you use management ACLs on the chassis or in the surrounding network, permit only the collector's IP. Fall back to Telnet only if the installed software release lacks SSH.
Platform notes
- C4 running configurations are typically very large; the first backup and any full-diff comparisons take longer than on smaller devices.
- Verify from a manual session that the account can display the entire running configuration before adding the chassis to QUARK.
Enable backup in Netwatch
Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
