D-Link
Prepare D-Link devices for QUARK Config Backup.
This guide covers D-Link managed switches with the classic D-Link CLI and newer models with the Cisco-like CLI.
D-Link
The classic D-Link CLI is used on DES- and DGS-series managed switches (for example DES-3200, DGS-3120, DGS-3420).
Create a backup account. Displaying the current configuration requires an admin-level account — user-level accounts cannot dump the configuration:
The switch prompts for the password interactively.
Enable SSH access. Enable the SSH server:
On older models or firmware without SSH support, use Telnet instead and keep the switch on a protected management VLAN. To restrict management sources, define the collector as a trusted host:
Note that once any trusted host is defined, management access is allowed only from listed addresses — include your own management stations too.
Notes. QUARK issues show commands only and never saves or modifies the configuration.
D-Link Cisco-like CLI
Newer D-Link switches (for example DGS-1250, DGS-1520, DGS-3130 and DXS series) use an industry-standard, Cisco-like CLI.
Create a backup account. Create a dedicated netwatch-backup account at the highest privilege level (15) — displaying the running configuration requires privileged EXEC mode. Alternatively create a lower-level account and supply the enable password to QUARK.
Enable SSH access. Enable the SSH server in the switch's management settings (generate the RSA key first where the firmware requires it) and verify the collector can reach the management IP on TCP port 22. Use the switch's trusted host / management ACL feature to permit the collector's IP if you restrict management sources.
Notes. QUARK never enters configuration mode on the switch.
Enable backup in Netwatch
Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
