SNR

Prepare SNR devices for QUARK Config Backup.

This guide covers SNR managed switches: the SNR-S300G, S2xxx, S3xxx, and S4xxx series.

SNR-S300G

Backup account. Create a local user named netwatch-backup via the CLI or web UI with the administrator privilege level; the full running configuration is only visible from privileged mode on this platform.

SSH access. Enable the SSH server in the management settings — Telnet is often the factory default — and disable Telnet once SSH access is verified. Restrict management sessions to the QUARK collector's IP with a management access list if the firmware supports one.

Notes. If a separate enable password protects privileged mode, record it in QUARK with the credentials.

S2xxx series

Backup account. Create netwatch-backup with the highest privilege level; displaying the complete configuration requires privileged mode.

SSH access. Enable SSH in the switch's management configuration and prefer it over Telnet. Where available, apply an ACL to the virtual terminal lines permitting only the collector's IP.

Notes. Add the enable password to the device entry in QUARK if one is set.

S3xxx series

Backup account. Create netwatch-backup as an administrator-level local user via CLI or web UI; lower levels cannot show the full running configuration.

SSH access. Enable the SSH server, confirm the collector can connect on TCP port 22, then disable Telnet. Use a management ACL to limit access to the collector's IP where supported.

Notes. Record the enable password in QUARK if privileged mode is separately protected.

S4xxx series

Backup account. Create netwatch-backup with administrator privilege; privileged mode is required to display the running configuration.

SSH access. Enable SSH management, disable Telnet after verifying access, and restrict management sources to the QUARK collector's IP through the platform's management ACL feature.

Notes. As with the other series, configure the enable password in QUARK if one is in use.

Enable backup in Netwatch

Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
