Coriant (former Tellabs)
Prepare Coriant devices for QUARK Config Backup.
This guide covers Coriant (former Tellabs) platforms: the 8800 series running TMOS, the 8600 series, and Groove optical transport.
TMOS (8800)
TMOS runs on the 8800 multiservice edge router series.
Create a backup account. Create a dedicated netwatch-backup account with a privilege level that can display the full device configuration. Prefer a read-only level if your software release allows it to show the configuration; otherwise use an administrative level.
Enable SSH access. Enable the SSH server on the management interface and verify the collector can reach the node on TCP port 22. If management access filtering is configured, permit the collector's IP address.
Notes. QUARK issues show/display commands only and never modifies the node.
8600
The 8600 series smart routers use a CLI-managed operating system.
Create a backup account. Create a dedicated netwatch-backup account. Displaying the running configuration on this platform requires an elevated privilege level, so create the account at a level authorized for full configuration display, or supply the enable password to QUARK with a lower-level login.
Enable SSH access. Enable the SSH server for management access and permit the collector's IP in any management access list.
Notes. If TACACS+ or RADIUS is used for management authentication, create the account on the AAA server with equivalent show authorization.
Groove
Groove (G30/GX series) open optical transport platforms are managed via a CLI over SSH and a NETCONF interface.
Create a backup account. Create a dedicated netwatch-backup user in the system's user management with a read-only role — a viewer-level account can display the full configuration.
Enable SSH access. SSH is the standard management method and is enabled by default; verify the collector can reach the unit's management IP on TCP port 22.
Notes. QUARK uses the SSH CLI for retrieval; no NETCONF configuration is required.
Enable backup in Netwatch
Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
