Linksys
Prepare Linksys devices for QUARK Config Backup.
This guide covers Linksys SRW-series managed switches.
SRW
Create a backup account. SRW switches are managed primarily through their web interface. Create a dedicated user — for example netwatch-backup — in the web UI's user or authentication settings. These switches do not offer a granular read-only role for configuration retrieval, so the account generally needs the highest access level (level 15 / read-write) to display the full configuration. QUARK only reads from the device and never sends configuration changes.
Enable management access. SRW switches expose a menu-driven console over Telnet; only some models and firmware versions offer SSH. Enable Telnet (or SSH where available) in the switch's admin or security settings. These switches have little or no support for management ACLs, so place them on a protected management VLAN and restrict access to the Netwatch collector at the network level.
Platform notes.
- The console is menu-based rather than a conventional command line; QUARK drives the menus automatically, including the escape sequence needed to reach the underlying command shell. No manual preparation is needed beyond a working login.
- SRW firmware is legacy; if SSH logins fail, fall back to Telnet on an isolated management network.
Enable backup in Netwatch
Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
