This guide covers Comtrol RocketLinx industrial Ethernet switches.

Create a backup account

Create a dedicated account named netwatch-backup in the switch's user management (web UI or CLI). Assign administrator privilege — RocketLinx switches require administrative rights to display the full running configuration.

Enable SSH access

Enable the SSH server in the switch's management settings and verify the collector can reach the switch's management IP on TCP port 22. If your model supports restricting management access by source address, permit the collector's IP.

Platform notes

• QUARK issues show commands only and never enters configuration mode.
• If SSH is unavailable on an older firmware release, update the firmware rather than falling back to Telnet where possible.

Enable backup in Netwatch

Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
