ADVA

Prepare ADVA devices for QUARK Config Backup.

This guide covers ADVA (now Adtran) optical and Ethernet access devices, including the FSP 150 and FSP 3000 families.

Create a backup account

Create a dedicated user named netwatch-backup in the device's user administration settings, from the craft/web interface or the management CLI. Assign a retrieve or read-only privilege level — ADVA platforms support tiered user privileges, and retrieve-level access is sufficient for QUARK to display the configuration. Avoid provisioning or admin classes unless your release restricts configuration display to them.

Enable SSH access

Enable the SSH server in the unit's management access settings and confirm the management IP (DCN or dedicated management port) is reachable from the collector. Where the platform supports management access lists, restrict SSH to the collector's IP address.

Platform notes

  • QUARK reads the configuration through the device CLI; make sure the account is permitted CLI access, not only web or SNMP access.
  • On network elements managed through an ADVA management system, direct SSH access to each element must still be allowed for per-device backup.

Enable backup in Netwatch

Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
