This guide covers ECI Telecom Apollo optical transport platforms (OPT-96xx series).

Create a backup account

Create a dedicated user named netwatch-backup in the network element's user management, either on the element itself or through your ECI management system. Assign a read-only (viewer) security level — the account only needs permission to display the element's configuration.

Enable SSH access

Enable SSH management access to the network element and verify the collector can reach the element's management IP on TCP port 22. If your management network uses access control lists between the DCN and the elements, permit the collector's IP address.

Platform notes

• QUARK retrieves the configuration with read/display operations only and never provisions or modifies the element.
• If your elements are reachable only through the management system's network, place a Netwatch collector inside that management network.

Enable backup in Netwatch

Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
