ZPE

Prepare ZPE devices for QUARK Config Backup.

This guide covers ZPE Systems appliances running Nodegrid OS, including Nodegrid serial consoles and services routers.

Create a backup account

In the Nodegrid web UI, add a dedicated user named netwatch-backup under Security > Local Accounts. Assign the user to a group whose authorization profile (managed under Security > Authorization) grants read access to the system configuration — a read-only profile is sufficient, since QUARK only exports settings and never changes them. If you use a stock group, prefer a restricted one over full admin where your configuration allows it.

Enable SSH access

SSH is enabled by default on Nodegrid appliances. Confirm the service and port in the security services settings, and make sure the Netwatch collector can reach the appliance's management address on TCP port 22. To restrict sources, use the appliance's built-in firewall rules to allow SSH only from the collector's IP.

Platform notes

  • Nodegrid presents its configuration as a structured settings tree; QUARK retrieves it as text, so versions diff cleanly.
  • If the read-only group cannot export the complete settings on your release, move the account to an administrative group — QUARK's behavior remains read-only either way.

Enable backup in Netwatch

Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
