Fiberstore (fs.com)

Prepare Fiberstore (fs.com) devices for QUARK Config Backup.

This guide covers Fiberstore (fs.com) switches in the S3400, S3800, S3900 / S3900-R, and S5800 / S5850 families.

S3400

Create a backup account. Create a dedicated netwatch-backup account in the switch's user management (web UI or CLI). The S3400 does not provide a read-only role that can display the full configuration, so give the account administrator privilege.

Enable SSH. Enable the SSH server in the management settings and generate the SSH host key if the switch prompts for one. If your firmware only offers Telnet, use Telnet on a trusted management network. Where the firmware supports trusted-host or management ACL settings, restrict access to the Netwatch collector's IP.

S3800

Create a backup account. Create a dedicated netwatch-backup account with administrator privilege via the web UI or CLI; administrator (privileged) access is required to display the running configuration.

Enable SSH. Enable the SSH server in the management settings; on some firmware versions only Telnet is enabled by default. Restrict management access to the Netwatch collector's IP if the firmware supports an ACL for management sessions.

S3900 / S3900-R

Create a backup account. Create a dedicated netwatch-backup account with administrator privilege in the switch's user management. Lower privilege levels cannot display the complete running configuration.

Enable SSH. Enable the SSH server and generate host keys in the management settings. Apply a management ACL for the Netwatch collector's IP if supported by your firmware.

S5800 / S5850

These data-center and aggregation switches provide a Cisco-style CLI.

Create a backup account. Create a dedicated netwatch-backup account with the highest privilege level; displaying the full running configuration requires privileged access on these platforms.

Enable SSH. Enable the SSH server in the management configuration and confirm the switch is reachable from the Netwatch collector on TCP port 22. Use a VTY/management ACL to restrict access to the collector's IP where configured in your environment.

Notes. QUARK logs in, displays the running configuration, and logs out; it never enters configuration mode. Firmware trains differ across FS families — if a command or menu described above is missing, use the equivalent option in your model's web UI under its security or management-access settings.

Enable backup in Netwatch

Once the device is prepared, open its host in Netwatch (Data collection > Hosts) and add the Config Backup macros — the supported status flag, the model code for this platform, and the credentials you created. See Getting started for the full macro list and values.
